Okay, finally the pictures from the Mukuyu Primary School
Project.....They are kinda mixed up, but just enjoy. This
is the Hand over project in Mautuma, Kenya, Nov. 29,2011


The girls and boys both shave their heads. One reason is because
their hair doesn't grow well, probably because of nutrition, and the
reason I have heard is because of lice. Boys wear shorts, pants,
girls wear dresses and skirts.' These older guys were being so shy, and then I told them to
act "cool", and they started doing these poses! They were
really cute.
The second one from the right, next to the "glasses guy", spoke
very good english, and he said, can I ask you a question? I said sure'
He said, "America is better isn't it?"....The look on his face broke
my heart.....I said, "You know why America is great to me?....It's
because my family is in America. Africa is great because this is
where your family is, because family is the greatest thing of all",......
He seemed to be satisfied.





This was the first image of the children, they had been sitting

since 9:00 that morning....it was now about 10:30!
This is "Esther", #1 girl student.....she gave a speech,
one of the things she said...was...."now our toilets are
better than our classrooms!!" It drew a laugh!! Notice the three
little boys just over Esther's left shoulder? They stood the whole
five hours. There was not enough room for them to sit down on
the desks. I had to stop looking at them because I felt so bad.
I've never seen such well behaved children. I think the teachers
are very very strict....can't go there either....

These girls are dancing....part of the five!!! hour
ceremony! ....yes, the children are still sitting, some
standing.....
This is dad and ?, some dignitary, in front of one of four
new latrine buildings.... Before this they had two wooden
old-fashioned out house looking shacks....one holers! Each
building has I think 10 separate stalls.
Yep!!! One brand new modern latrine!!
Ron and I were given these crepe-paper badges when we arrived
at the Hand-over.

Water Hand-Over, Mautuma, Kenya

Yep! This is the inside of a classroom. One student told me,
"Those floors are cow dung....that makes really good hard
floors!"....The children were sitting on the rest of the
desks.

This is the well, it is called a "shallow well"
This is where some of your humanitarian contributions
go......this is the "washing station".
These women had been watching me take pictures of the
kids, so I took a picture of them...so did Elder Tuttle, and
then we let them look at themselves....they loved it!!

Water Hand-Over, Mautuma, Kenya

This was the cutest thing. This is at Dorothy's, it
is one of her children. Dad was singing "I am a
child of God", this little boy kept perfect rhythm
with dad's claps. He was so proud of himself!!
After the school ceremony, we stopped at this little
"Home", Elder Tuttle met this women, Dorothy, the last
time he was up here, she has twelve children. She looked
up at the sky and said...."yes, twelve!..God has been good
to me...." . We gave them a box of hygiene kits. I have never
been on this end of these kits!....believe me, it is well worth
it. Keep going to the Humanitarian Center folks, those kits
really do get where they are supposed to be!!




Waving good-bye, all smiles! They loved
the hygiene kits, and we loved giving them away.

Arriving in Nairobi

I am finally caught up!! Our arrival in Nairobi is now in

the right order!! I think from here on I can keep up, but

don't hold your breath!!

These are the first photos I took in Nairobi. These are the

ugliest, meanest looking birds I have ever seen...it's too bad

you can't see them up close. They are huge. They live in the

middle of the city in the tops of these trees. Believe it or not

they are storks! Not the cute things we see in Disney movies!!!

We stayed at the home of Pres. and Sis Broadbent our

first night in Nairobi. They are wonderful of course. They

both know how to laugh!! They are from Pleasant View...up

by No. Ogden...sound familiar Geniel???

These pictures show us getting to our flat.

We had to carry our luggage up six flights of

steps. It seemed like it took us forever. We don't

even notice it now!! Samson (well named) helped

us!!


This is how we spent Thanksgiving. We were all at the Presidents

house. All of the missionary couples came "in" from the mission.

Those of us who live in Nairobi housed them. We had been here

three days. I cleaned our flat...had someone take us to the store

to buy food (We could NOT drive ourselves) and then entertained

a couple from Dar for four days!! We did do a lot of things all

together!! I promise I smiled every minute!!! Hee Hee!!! Oh, and this

is Elizabeth...she cooks and cleans for Sis. Broadbent..Pres. wife! She

has a beautiful singing voice!

Where we Live!

Okay...this is the deal....We have been in Nairobi one week...We have not stopped for one tiny minute! I am trying to give the correct timeline since we got here..so I am putting these posts up backwards so that I can have them start at the top and go to the bottom!! I have not had one second to blog until today, and it is taking almost 15 min. to download ONE picture!! So I am going to have to do this in sections...We leave tomorrow for "Eldorete" for three days for the

water Turn over...back on Wed. night, Thurs. morning we leave for ?Chulu with the mission Pres. for a training conference and back on Sun night....I won't be able to finish this until then. Our computers won't work when we are in the bush...so I will show you the rest of our home when I get back, and also the pictures of our arrival in Nairobi....

A common sight on the streets...One couple here said they saw a man

carrying a sofa once......with an old lady sitting on top of it!!

First Sunday in Nairobi

These little ones followed us out of church. They are

so quiet and shy, but when you just get them to smile, they

become your best friends. You should see how reverent they

are in church!! We could learn a lot from them.

"removal team" spent three days cutting it up using machetes.
