Mission Tour With Elder Cook

This is a picture of the Nairobi missionaries,

Elders, Sisters, and Seniors. Starting from the

left, 2nd row (I'm only going to do Sr. missionaries)

is Elder and Sis. Nevins, they leave this coming Tues.

1st row..left to right...E&S Kellams, E&S Lurf, Pres.

& S Broadbent, E&S Cook, E&S Olsen (they just took

Nevins place), E&S Pugmire,....the oldest ones in the

mission!!!, E&S Tuttle, back row behind Tuttles,

E&S Hall, tallest Elder in the mission!! Look

at all of those African missionaries...isn't that a

great sight!!!....had to add these pictures as two

separate posts....BECAUSE I didn't know how else

to do it!!!

Mission Tour With Elder Cook

Picture of Sr. Couples from Nairobi Area. We are

at Pres. Broadbent's home. We had dinner and a

report session with Elder Cook and his wife. Needless

to say, it was a very special evening! His main message

was remembering that the Atonement is central

to everything we say and do; also, we are laying

the foundation for the future of the church in

Africa.

About a week and a half ago, Ron and I, the Tuttles;

and Stephen took the day off and went shopping

for the orphanage. We had about $200.00 left over

from the Christmas money. He took us to the cheapest

shopping area in the city...(would not recommend it)..

He made Janet walk right behind him, then me, then Ron,

then Dick brought up the rear. He is so careful about

getting the best deal!! He bought bright red and blue

plates, yellow and blue cups, and spoons. Enough

for each child to have their own, for the first time.

Also, 225 lbs. of rice, and 225 lbs. of beans. He was

beside himself. We had such a good time. Enjoy these

pictures of the street life where we shopped!!

Stephen came into our office to bring us the

Nativity sets I ordered for next Christmas. He

makes these beautiful sets out of banana leaves...

I ordered one for each family. If Matt and A.K.

come in July, maybe they can bring them back

to you. Friends...these sets come in a darling

banana leaf box, and they cost about $5.00 ea.

If any of you want a set, let me know, and we'll

see what we can do....this is one way we are helping

Stephen raise money for his school and orphanage.

We are also trying to set up a foundation so that

we can continue to help him after we return home.

Pres. Broadbent loves to come up behind me and

scare me.....I surprised him by snapping his picture

just as he was leaving our office......and yes, we do

work!!!

This is someones dinner!! Chickens....and yes,

they are alive!!

These are called "Equator Roses". The Scotts

brought each of the Sr. couples a whole huge

bouquet from Eldoret. They send them to Europe.

These roses were two weeks old when I took these

pictures!.......The remaining photos are just

misc. shots I wanted to add.....Enjoy!!


This is our friendly wart hog!! He is really a planter,

but he weighs a ton! We still like him though!

This is our flat mascot! Our own Masai warrior.

We "won" him at Thanksgiving time when the Sr.

couples had the Christmas gift exchange. Everyone

wanted him, but we were the lucky ones to get him

on the third round!

These are the "purifiers" ??...they make it

possible for us to drink cold safe water!!

The absolutely most scrumptious bananas in the

world....they are sweet...and of course..they are

called..."Baby Bananas"!!

The kids and grandkids made a daily calendar for us.

We keep it here on the top of the micro-wave!

This is the Chyulu District Presidency...It is so cool

to see these great men taking charge of their meetings.

I told the tall brother on the left that he looked like

Will Smith....it isn't a very good picture of him, because

he really did look like him...he had no idea who Will Smith

was....he laughed when I told him!!

This is how many of the people come to District Conference.

This was when we were in Chyulu. Dad went over to help

the women. They started to giggle...I think no one has ever

offered to help them before!!


This is Elder Pugmire helping the little ladies out of the

back of the truck...This is just before they got laughing so hard

they all fell on the ground....they were such good sports, it

turned into a very friendly funny happening!!
